Zambales, Philippines Oct 2019

For being in a country known for their beaches, I was severely lacking in beach time. So it was about time that I made a beach trip! This time we took an 8 hour (one way) road trip to the Zambales province to visit a family friend's resort, Cabo De Roca Villas. This was such a spontaneous but fun trip! It was short and most definitely sweet. (Overnight vacation)

My aunt, her 2 friends, my cousin, and I squeezed into the car at around 7am and

hit the road. We got to Cabo De Roca in the afternoon. It was cloudy and drizzling but that wasn't going to stop me from exploring and getting my much needed beach time in. After getting settled in and eating lunch, the rain stopped so it gave me a chance to go sit beachside, just in time for sunset.

I think my favorite part of the resort was the private beach. When I say private, I mean private. It wasn't peak season when we went so there was barely anyone else there. And since it was a bit rainy that day, no one else was out. I think this was my first ever experience being so isolated at a beach. I had my music, my book, and I just sat and admired the mountain view while the calm ocean waves hit the shore. It was paradise in its purest form. And although the clouds covered the sun, it didn't stop it from making the sky a beautiful, creamy shade of pink during sunset.

Just when I thought the trip couldn't get any better, the next day was something on a different level. This day couldn't have been more perfect. I got up early to have breakfast with an ocean view and the sun was shining. The rains had passed and it was a beautiful sunny day. After eating, I got changed and went for one more quick swim.

This time the vibe was so different. The sun was shining, I could see the green mountain views and how clear the water was. It was just me and the ocean. And I've never felt more at peace just floating in the calm, waveless water.

Once everyone was up and had lunch, we loaded up the car again and hit the road back home. On the way back, we stopped at Nathaniel's restaurant and shop and grabbed maybe the best Buko juice (coconut water) I have ever tasted. It was so refreshing and naturally sweet. I will definitely be buying more the next time I go there.

It was so nice getting a change of scenery from the bustling Manila city life. I took a minute to disconnect and just be one with the ocean (quite literally). I'm coming back refreshed and recharged, and feeling a bit better about my homesickness and missing my family and friends in America.

Special thanks to Cabo De Roca Villas for hosting our quick getaway.
